The Russian Kazan Muslim Film Festival is set to take place at Pustaka Raja Tun Uda in Shah Alam from June 8 to June 10, showcasing a diverse selection of films and documentaries that highlight Islamic culture and values.

This festival serves as a platform for cultural exchange and aims to promote understanding and appreciation of Islamic art and traditions. The main objective of the Russian Kazan Muslim Film Festival is to foster cultural dialogue and strengthen bilateral ties between Russia and Malaysia.

By bringing together artists, filmmakers and cultural experts from both countries, the festival creates opportunities for collaboration and mutual learning.

The festival will feature five films (including an animated feature for children) and two documentaries that offer unique insights in promoting universal spiritual and cultural values, and highlighting the traditions and practices of the Tatar community in Kazan, Russia.

Also present are Ayupova Irada Khafizyanovna who is the minister of culture of the Republic of Tatarstan, Victoria Dautova also from the culture ministry, Ilnur Nizamiew who is the head of Museum of Islamic Culture and three directors whose films are on showcase.

In addition to film screenings, attendees will have the opportunity to interact with a calligrapher and a Tatar costume expert, further enriching theirunderstanding of Tatar culture and heritage.

One of the key goals of the Russian Kazan Muslim Film Festival is to combat Islamophobia and promote intercultural understanding. The Kazan International Film Festival, known as ‘Altyn Minbar’, has been a significant cultural event since its inception in 2005. Organized by the Muftis Council of Russia, the Federal Agency of Culture and Cinematography of the Russian Federation and the Ministry of Culture of the Republic of Tatarstan, the festival has been dedicated to promoting dialogue between cultures and celebrating universal spiritual and cultural values.
