We are looking for writers to create a middle grade adventure novel for children aged 8–12.
Tell the story of a young hero traveling across Malaysia — discovering the beauty of our states, cultures, landscapes, and communities.
AUTHOR CALL — MIDDLE GRADE FICTION (AGE 8–12)
We are inviting Malaysian writers to express their interest in contributing to an upcoming children’s fiction project.
We are looking for writers who can create engaging, emotionally resonant stories for children aged 8–12, with a strong sense of place, character development, and narrative flow.
WRITING SAMPLE
Please submit a short writing sample (1–2 pages) based on the following prompt:
- Write a scene featuring a child or young character exploring or experiencing a place in Malaysia.
- This could include discovering something new in an unfamiliar environment, interacting with people, culture, or nature, observing and reacting to surroundings, or experiencing a moment of curiosity, confusion, or growth.
- The focus should be on storytelling, the character’s thoughts and emotions, and how the experience changes or impacts the character.
