The Selangor Children’s Book Fair 2024 is set to enchant young readers and cartoon enthusiasts alike from July 24 to July 28 at the PKNS Shah Alam Complex, Selangor.
This year’s fair is extra special with the presence of cartoonists and illustrators who are set to bring stories to life through their vibrant and engaging visuals.
These are the cartoonists whose strokes and inspirations are behind some of Malaysia’s most iconic cartoon characters as well as some newer faces who are trailblazing in this field.
Among the featured guests are:
Pioneering motion cartoonist Tunku Yusrina ‘Nina’ Tunku Nazrin. This trailblazer in motion comic wants to revolutionize the local animation scene, bringing characters to life with unparalleled creativity. Be the first to interact with her and enjoy the experience of her work.
The heartfelt illustrator, Mohammad Yazid ‘Zid’ Kamal Baharin. He is known for his poignant book about family life in the form of comic stories. This illustrator shares the touching story of raising a daughter with a rare disease, offering a unique perspective on resilience and love.
Legendary cartoonists, and there are quite a handful here. From the people behind the famous Malaysia’s comic superhero Keluang Man to ever classic Bujal which was created by the late Rizalman to iconic Imuda who is celebrated for his eponymous series.

Here the Keluang Man will be represented by comic artist Shamsaimun Ezil (better known as Sam Along) while Rizalman’s son, Fairul Hafiz Razali who is also a cartoonist will be present to showcase some of his father’s celebrated work which also include Bambino and Salina.
Also in the mix is Azrul Aman who is known as ‘Cengkerik’ or ‘Maba’ in the local scene. He will be showcasing some of his cartoon works in collaboration with some of his friends.
Of course, the star of the event is cartoonist, comedian and actor Imuda who will be showing off his works such as Mat Gelap, Mat Som and Pi Mai Pi Mai Tang Tu.
This is a golden opportunity for visitors to engage with their favourite cartoon artists, learn new skills and gain insights into the world of cartoons and illustrations.
