Pustaka Raja Tun Uda – The Library Born from a Royal Vision

Pustaka Raja Tun Uda stands as the flagship library of the Selangor Public Library Corporation (PPAS) and represents Selangor's enduring commitment to knowledge, lifelong learning and community development.

Its story began in 2005, when Selangor was declared a developed state. Guided by the vision of His Royal Highness Sultan Sharafuddin Idris Shah Alhaj, the State Government embarked on building a modern, welcoming and fully equipped public library—not merely as a building, but as a gift of knowledge for the people of Selangor and Malaysia. The vision was to create a place where everyone could read, discover, learn and improve their quality of life through access to knowledge.

Officially opened in its new purpose-built premises on 22 July 2011, Pustaka Raja Tun Uda has since grown into one of Malaysia's leading public libraries. Spanning approximately 18,921 square metres (203,600 square feet), it serves as a vibrant hub for reading, creativity, innovation and lifelong learning, welcoming visitors of all ages.

Today, as PPAS proudly hosts the Hans Christian Andersen Awards experience in Selangor, Pustaka Raja Tun Uda continues to embody the same vision—connecting people through stories, nurturing young readers and celebrating the transformative power of books across cultures and generations.
